Behind the Gifts: How Alberta Was Shared with the World at the G7 Summit

Some projects begin with a detailed brief. This one began with a simple request for Alberta products.

As with all custom gifting projects, we scheduled a discovery call to learn more. During that conversation, we discovered the gifts were being considered for the 2025 G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta.

What followed became one of the most memorable projects in our studio's history.

When members of the G7 Events team visited Alberta, we welcomed them into our studio to review gift concepts in person. Fresh coffee from Jade Coffee Roasters was served, locally made Salted caramels and Bison Jerky were shared, and Alberta-made products filled the room.

Our vision was simple: every item would be sourced from Alberta businesses and reflect the quality, craftsmanship, and character of the province we call home.

Then we waited.

A few weeks later, we received the news that Willows Box & Co. had been selected as the official gifting studio for the G7 Summit.

From there, months of quiet planning began.

Because of the confidential nature of the project, we couldn't share what we were working on. While sourcing products, coordinating with makers, and assembling gifts, we carried the responsibility of keeping the project completely private until after the summit.

The gifting program included two curated experiences: a Welcome Gift Box for Leaders and Spouses, and a Wellness Gift Basket for Leaders, Spouses, Sherpas, and the President of Ukraine.

Every product was sourced from Alberta based businesses. Each item was chosen not only for its quality, but for the story it helped tell about Alberta.

One of the most rewarding parts of the project was working alongside the talented makers whose products were included. From food and beverage producers to wellness and artisan brands, each contributed something meaningful to the final experience.

As the summit approached, the gifts were assembled, photographed, and prepared for delivery. On handoff day, our team transported the gifts to a designated location in Calgary, where they were received by the G7 Events team before continuing on to Kananaskis. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLECp3HR6C8/

Months of planning ultimately came down to that single moment.

After the summit concluded, we were finally able to share the news and celebrate with the Alberta businesses whose products had been selected. Their excitement was a reminder that this project represented far more than a collection of gifts. It was an opportunity to showcase Alberta's creativity, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit on a global stage.

Looking back one year later, what stands out most is the trust behind the project. Trust from the organizers. Trust from the makers. And trust in the power of thoughtful gifting to tell a meaningful story.

For the 2025 G7 Summit, that story was Alberta, and we were honoured to help share it with the world.
